Nestled high up in the Carpathian Mountains, at 1250 meters, our idyllic ranch at the heart of Transylvania helps you get away from it all. From here we start our horse trekking tours, together with our four-legged friends.
All year round, these roam freely through the lush mountain meadows surrounding our ranch. We, Csaba from Romania and Katrin from Germany as well as our hard-working staff, are always striving to provide our guests with an unforgettable experience in the great outdoors.
For many years we have been working together with numerous international equestrian travel agencies such as Pegasus, Ruitervakanties, Far and Ride and Hiddentrails and are a recognized partner of the German Trail Riders Academy in Montabaur.
Born in the Székely Land and raised in the Carpathian Mountains, Csaba is the founder of Hipparion.
Growing up in the mountains has instilled a deep-rooted love for the outdoors and horses within him.
At the age of four, Csaba accompanied his grandfather taking the carriage to the mountains as to supply the local workers with food and to transport wood from the forests to the valley down below.
Thus, he was able to explore the Carpathians and foster a strong connection with the horses. As a young boy, Csaba started to ride horses with the intention to treat the latter fairly and with respect.
After having done an agricultural internship in Germany, he first started to work as a professional rider in Hungary before completing his studies in Tourism Management at the University of Cluj-Napoca in 2015.
In the Carpathians and Transylvania, where we base our trail-riding adventures out of, Csaba is familiar with every path, as well as the locals and is keen to share many good stories and his knowledge about the regional culture with you.
Originally from the South of Germany, Katrin was raised in a rural environment and started to ride from her early childhood on.
After having obtained her degree in violin studies, she worked as a violinist, devoting eight years of her career to music. However, her passion for horses, adventure, the outdoors and Csaba brought her to Transylvania in early 2017.
Amongst others, Katrin is in charge of the daily rides. Moreover, she takes care of the organizational aspects concerning our ranch and is always willing to help our guests out.
If she finds the time, Katrin still loves to creatively express herself on her violin and to jam with our guests at the bonfire.
Our kitchen fairy Brigitta, is a true local, who indulges our guests with skillfully prepared regional dishes.
All ingredients are hand selected, simple and pure and prove to be stimulating for all senses and nourishing for mind, body and soul.
During the school holidays, her daughter Boruka lends her a helping hand in the kitchen and helps us to look after our horses.
Throughout the semester break, Csaba’s son Barnabas occasionally accompanies and assists us on our guided horse trekking tours.
He trains our new horses and devotes himself to the wellbeing of our guests.
