How to come to Hipparion:
Arrival by Plane:
We recommend the airports of Târgu Mureș, Brașov, Cluj-Napoca, Sibiu, or Bucharest.
Târgu Mureș is the closest airport to us.
You can book a transfer with us (see below), or travel quickly and affordably by train to Gheorgheni—we will of course pick you up from the train station 🙂
When searching for train connections, please enter “Targu Mures”!
There are two direct connections without transfers:
•Departure 13:44 from Târgu Mureș → Arrival 16:34 in Gheorgheni
•Departure 15:30 from Târgu Mureș → Arrival 19:36 in Gheorgheni
Brașov is also only about 3 hours away from the ranch by car.
Alternatively, you can take the train:
•Departure 15:54 from Brașov → Arrival 18:28 in Gheorgheni (direct)
•Departure 18:59 from Brașov → Arrival 21:11 in Gheorgheni (direct)
From Bucharest, you can reach Gheorgheni in about 5 hours:
•Departure 13:07 from Bucharest → Arrival 18:28 in Gheorgheni (direct)
From Cluj-Napoca and Sibiu, we usually need to arrange a transfer, as train schedules are less convenient.

Please remember to reserve your ticket in advance—this can also be done online.
Prices range from approx. 70–80 Lei (~15 EUR) for regional trains to about 120 Lei (~26 EUR) for fast trains.

Taxis in Romania:
We recommend downloading the apps Bolt or Uber before your trip.
They are inexpensive in all major Romanian cities, prices are fixed in advance, and you won’t be overcharged.

•Cluj-Napoca or Sibiu Airport → Ranch:

•Bucharest Airport → Ranch:
280 EUR per car / one way, max. 4 people, approx. 5–6 hours, 350 km
Rental Cars:
Another flexible and affordable option is renting a car directly at the airport.
Prices in Romania are very low, starting from just a few euros per day, and vehicles are usually in excellent condition.
You can book your rental car online in advance and pick it up upon arrival.
Especially if you want to explore along the way, this is a great option.

Good to Know:
Roads in Romania are much better than their reputation! There are more and more European highways and motorways.
However, travel still takes longer overall, as many routes pass through villages and mountain roads are winding—so driving speeds tend to be slower.
Arrival by Car:

Arrival by Train:
For those who prefer a relaxed and eco-friendly journey, traveling by train is also a great option.
There are now several good connections to Romania, and you can include interesting stopovers along the way.
Most routes go via Budapest.
From there, a night train departs daily at 17:20 from Budapest Keleti and arrives in Gheorgheni at 06:46—without transfers.
There are 3- and 6-person compartments, as well as a dining car.
Daytime connections are also available.
Please make sure to book your tickets in advance (usually available about 1 month ahead).

By the Way:
If availability allows, you are welcome to arrive one day earlier or stay one extra day after your holiday.
Cost: 80 EUR per person/night, including full board, without riding.
